Acceptable Use Policy
Phloem is a business-to-business research and communication tool. This policy sets the boundaries of that use.
1. Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy applies to everyone using Phloem, including workspace members, API clients and integrations. It forms part of the Customer Agreement (version 2026-08-01).
Phloem is a business-to-business tool. It must not be used to build profiles of private individuals outside a professional context.
2. Permitted use
Researching companies and markets from permitted business sources to understand commercial fit.
Identifying relevant professional roles at qualified companies and preparing individually personalised business communication.
Using workspace data you own, data you are licensed to use, and data from connected systems you control.
3. Prohibited use
Bulk unsolicited messaging, list blasting, purchased-list campaigns or any use that would be considered spam.
Collecting special-category or sensitive personal information, private household contact details, or data about minors.
Circumventing rate limits, extraction limits, robots directives, authentication or paywalls on third-party sources.
Reselling raw extracted data, reverse engineering the Service, or using it to build a competing dataset.
Any use that is unlawful in your jurisdiction or the recipient's jurisdiction, or that infringes a third party's rights.
4. Limits and enforcement
Request, extraction, sending and automation limits are enforced server-side and vary by plan. Limits are a safeguard, not a target.
We may throttle, suspend or terminate access where use materially breaches this policy, and we log enforcement actions.
Communication is additionally evaluated by the compliance engine before sending: relevance, jurisdiction, suppression, opt-out and pacing checks can block or hold a message.
5. Your responsibility
You remain responsible for how you use the output, including whether a given communication is lawful where the recipient is located.
Phloem does not warrant that any message it helps draft is automatically compliant with the law applying to you or the recipient.
